Cannot rotate, Blue cursor, seems to be locked

Hi, we are having issues with not being able to navigate around a sculpt.
The cursor keeps locking to a cross, going blue and not letting us rotate/zoom/pan.

Weirdly, if I click outside of ZBrush it temporarily resets allows me to rotate once, and then locks again.

I read something on an old forum post about locking the Shift and Ctrl buttons, but I’m not sure it is that as I followed their advice and cannot unlock them anymore.

Any ideas would be a great help. The same problem cropped up on multiple computers at different points.

Hi @Alec_Chalmers

I have a few ideas.

  1. I don’t believe Zbrush ever creates a blue cursor, except when holding down Shift for smooth mode. This is probably something coming from your OS, or possibly a tablet. You’re probably aware that holding down Shift will cause the view to lock at certain points when rotating the model.

  2. If on Windows, make sure Mouse ClickLock is off. This would cause your cursor to lock in one mode or another when the LMB or LMB equivalent is pressed. If you were holding down Shift when the lock happened, it would lock into the Shift Rotate mode which may cause snapping.

  3. There is also an issue where if a save/load dialogue window from Zbrush gets hidden by the interface window, the cursor will change to a large plus sign until the dialogue is dismissed, and it will keep you from interacting with the program. However that cursor is not blue on my system.

  4. Make sure you are not inadvertently locking the camera.

  5. If using a pressure sensitive tablet, try using a mouse instead to rule out any issues with it. Make sure that any OS features like flicks or “press and hold to”, or any other feature that might interfere with a stroke have been disabled.

That’s the extent of my ideas off the top of my head. If you can’t sort it out, I’d advise you to make a Support ticket.
