Can this be done?

how do i achieve this?

i make characters for use with daz studios genesis 3 and 8 figures male and female .
i have made custom textures using several different programs to generate unique base maps for the shins.
i want to be able to load the custom base skin maps on the high res sculpt to further improve them with polypaint by using the masking tools to shade the depressions and highlight the raised areas .

think ridgey headed aliens .

this will in theory allow me to add highlights and shadows to the textures .

those textures will then be enhance by the normal maps , (the high res detail sculpt turned into normal maps ) i make for the lower polly daz figure , adding ( i hope ) further detail to the figure once rendered .
i just canot figure out how to load the genesis textures to the genesis 3 object i impore as a tool to sculpt the higher res detail on in z brush

any help walking me through the process will help me out tons

Hello @Tim_Treado ,

  1. Select the polymesh3d star in the Tool menu as an import target and enter edit mode

  2. Use Tool> Import to import your mesh in a supported format. To display imported textures it will need the UVs associated with those textures.

  3. In the Texture palette import the texture image.

  4. In Tool> Texture Map, click on the texture selector to apply the image. Depending on the world space and export settings of the external app the image may need to be flipped vertically (most common), horizontally, or both to display correctly on the mesh. This can be done in the Texture palette, and then would need to be re-applied in Tool> Texture Map.

  5. Make sure your mesh is subdivided sufficiently to hold the color detail from the texture. It can then be converted to Polypaint with Tool> Polypaint> Polypaint from Texture.
