Can’t seem to get hold of tech support. Anyone else found a workaround for this?

Having some problems activating my latest download of Zbrush 2022.0.5 (yes, I turned off the firewall). I used The Pixologic License Manager to deactivate my existing perpetual license on my home PC (I have an older one on my Cyntiq). I then tried the ZUpgrader but it said no upgrade was available. I can’t seem to activate the new download. (2022.0.5). I haven’t been prompted to activate it which I seem to remember would usually happen.

Zbrush will open and in the top left hand corner of the screen it does show that it’s the correct version, but on the Zbrush login page it is still saying my license isn’t activated for my PC. Is there a deadline for downloading this update before everything changes with the new ownership? I’ve tried several time to reach out for the live chat help but nobody is responding and I’ve been trying for a couple of days now. Which is why I’m reaching out here in desperation despite the ‘no tech support’ notice. Can anyone tell me how to activate this version? It’s driving me a bit nuts. Thank you.

Hello @Mimmylemoo ,

If you have an existing license of ZBrush through the old Pixologic system, the upgrade instructions can be found here. Please note that major release versions (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022) cannot be directly upgraded to a new major version. ZUpgrader only works for upgrading major version to different minor point releases of that same version.

The full installer for ZBrush 2022 creates an entirely new installation of ZBrush 2022 as a separate program. This version of ZBrush can exist alongside previous versions of ZBrush, and will use the same license activation if you have one of the versions of ZBrush I mentioned above activated on your machine. It is not necessary to uninstall or deactivate anything. Simply download the full 2022.0.5 installer from your My Licenses page, and install it according to the instructions. If you have deactivated your current license, you will need to re-activate.

I’m sorry to hear about your difficulty contacting Support. I don’t know why you would be having trouble . ZBrush Support can be contacted here, but you may need to allow up to a business day for a reply depending on volume. Support hours are 9-5 M-F, Pacific Time.

However, if attempting to install ZBrush through the Maxon App, this is a different situation. You would need to click on the button in the top right of the Maxon App and select “Contact Support” to contact the team that can help you with issues installing through that application.

Thank you!

Hi Spyndel,

Thank you so much for replying. I really appreciate it.

This is my issue though, I don’t know how to reactivate it and couldn’t find anything in the help pages telling me how to. Would I need to reinstall an older version (like the one I just deleted before downloading the newer one) and reactivate that? Will the new download of the 2022 version then also be activated with it?

I will keep trying with the support page, but looks like that will be shut until Monday anyway. Thank you again for your help.

If you need to activate your software through the legacy system (as opposed to the Maxon App) , this would automatically happen the first time you attempt to use the software you just installed. Online activation is recommend. Install ZBrush 2022 with the full installer–do not attempt to install this into an existing program installation, let it create an entirely new install–then launch it and follow the instructions.

This information is provided in the link in my previous reply.

Thank you!

Hi again,

Thank you, but the activation prompt did not appear the first time (or any time since) I’ve tried using the programme. That’s what I was expecting to happen, but it never prompted me to activate it or enter a license or key or anything like that. That’s why I’m confused. It’s not that I haven’t read the help files, it’s that what it says was meant to happen did not happen automatically. Hence the concern.

Can you launch the software and use it? If so your software is already activated.

To be clear, you must launch the program after installing it to receive an activation prompt. If you don’t get one, then you already have an active license on your system. Again, this applies to the legacy system. If installing through the Maxon App, then simply signing in with the App will allow you to use the software.

It may be the case that the system has yet to fully update itself after the license you deactivated. You might find that when you launch the program at a future time it will prompt you to activate.
