Can somebody replicate this error?

  • Create any object in blender/3dsmax etc and add a single vertex to the object that isn’t connected to the rest of the mesh
  • export the object as a fbx and import it to zbrush2021
  • divide the object 2-3 times, safe the file, close zbrush
  • open the file again with zbrush

It seems as if this would completely destroy the mesh, if other people can replicate this then this might be worthy to fix by the developers

or at least good to know for anybody who gets confronted with this kind of error

Hi @Ni_Ko

It is expected that floating /disconnected points create problematic geometry in Zbrush. ZBrush works with subdivision surfaces and points in ZBrush must form either a quad or a triangular polygon. Be sure to check imported meshes that exhibit issues for problems with Tool> Geometry> Mesh Integrity> Check mesh.

Hey Spyndel,

thank you for the quick answer, I didn’t know about that functionality!
