That thumbnail represents your canvas. Your model is currently off center on your canvas. Zoom your canvas out (Document > Zoom, not Transform> Zoom ) so you can see the entire document and locate your model at the center. Reduce the dimensions of your canvas in thew Document palette if you wish to eliminate any offscreen canvas area.
