Hi, I’m working on a chesspiece model. The whole figure is symmetrical, except for the arms. One will be holding a shield, the other a sword. I thought perhaps if I inserted a pair of spheres as starting points at the shoulders, I could turn symmetry off on those objects to create the arms while leaving it on for the original object in case I wanted to fiddle with the body more. Tried it with no luck, but thought I’d ask if there was something I was missing. If not, how would you handle this problem? (I guess I could make duplicates of the soldier and work the left arm on one model and the right arm on the other, but then how would I merge the three?)
Create the arms as a separate subtool so you can work on them independently of the body. When you are happy with everything, merge the two subtools together, and combine the meshes with Dynamesh. Clone out your original subtools first, so you always have them as separate objects.
