can i "snap" to a view with a script, maybe?

so, i come across this more and more lately.
working on projects with photos imported with image plane in the background, to use as reference.
let’s say i’m working on a gun.
laying out shapes against the picture. get basic shapes done, etc…
then onto detailing, by which i do alot of zooming/scaling in.

the problem then becomes, matching the mesh back up to the image precisely.
it’s really counter productive, to have to zoom in and make a tweak on a sculpt that takes 2 seconds, only to have to frig around and spend sometimes 30 seconds+ trying to match the mesh back to the pic.

is there some way i can zoom/scale a mesh to a predetermined size, then “lock it” in somehow-
so then i can zoom in all i want, then just hit a button to “snap” it back to the locked view?

i’d cook someone dinner for the answer to this one.

thanks!

It’s not a script, but you can record the camera position on the timeline. For example, you could line up to the side view, add a key, align to front, add a key, etc and just scrub through the timeline to align the object.

Hope this helps!

You can also add a few custom views in the Character Sheet portion of Zapplink.

you are right
