Can I set the Mesh to Axis button to a hotkey?

The Mesh to Axis (the little house symbol on the Gizmo). I can’t find a corresponding button that can be mapped to a hotkey. I tried using the macro Mesh to World Center but it doesn’t function correctly when using it with a hotkey. Any other suggestions? I just want to zero out the position with a shortcut, SHIFT+X to be specific.

Welcome to ZBC!

What’s the problem with using a hotkey for the Center Mesh to World macro? It works OK for me.

Ok yea, I wasn’t very clear in the description. Using the hotkey assigned to this macro works when you hit it the first time, but its almost like its “recording” the movement that is required to bring the mesh to center, and if I hit the hotkey again, instead of it staying at center, it makes the same movement again. So, if the mesh was at +10 Z, and I hit the hotkey, it goes to Zero on all axis, but then if I hit the hotkey again it goes to -10 Z. Moving it to any other location, and then trying to use the hotkey, it will then simply be moved by -10 units on the Z axis. It’s weird.

It’s not a function that I use a TON, so it hasn’t really bothered me. But to be able to set up a really fluid hotkey mapping it would be nice to have this working right. I have tried creating my own macro to center the mesh, and the same issue occurs.

What you are seeing is to do with how the value is transferred between subtools. The macro simply intructs ZBrush to “set the Tool>Geometry>Position sliders to 0,0,0” but if you start with the top subtool you can then move down through the subtools and they will all be moved so that their relative position remains the same.

Ah that makes sense! I guess in reality there would be no reason to use the hotkey twice in a row on the same subtool, my monkey brain just wants to spam the hotkey to make absolutely sure that it functions how I would expect (even if what I expect isn’t the best way for it to work). Being able to move one subtool to center and then get everything else to move relative to that, to keep them aligned, that makes way more sense.
