Can Anyone Provide tips for lighting demo reels?

Hiya everyone! I’ve been at this 3D thing for a couple years now, and I’m just starting to find my groove.
One thing that has eluded me (or maybe I haven’t looked hard enough) is the standard “Model” presentation for a demo reel. I know there may not be much of a “standard” but I have a question nonetheless…

Here is a link that made top row: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=030559

The second image there has a base stand and a very good “basic” lighting setup. I’ve seen this 3D Model presentation before and I was wondering if there are any tutorials/basic tips & tricks on getting this look.
I really haven’t found anything that gives me good insight into how this is done and what to do to make it look like that (basic grey background with basic, but very good lighting setup).
Thanks in advance to all the experts for replying!

Well, that’s kinda why I posted this in the “General Discussion” forum… it’s a general question… and no one comes to the community forum.

No tips on this one though eh?

perhaps changing the title will yield better results. reading it first time around this is what I thought…

Madwickedstiner has a link to a tutorial he has done or is working on and wants us to check it out and give crits or advice.

My guess would be that others thought so as well and alot of folks don’t always have time for stuff like that so would pass on even taking a look.

maybe something like…

anyone have tips for lighting demo reels? or something similar.

Hmm… I belive you’re right! thanks for the tip aminuts… Can I change the title? checking now…

there ya go…much clearer now!

wish I could help ya but all I can offer is what I like when I view them…I prefer a nice clean GI setup that enhances the details and work the modeler put into the models. I would also say don’t make it a 320x240 either cuz you just can’t see the details but am not sure what’s required by companies in that regard.

good luck to ya…hope someone drops by and helps ya out.
