Calling all Mortal Kombat fans, anyone interested in working on an indy film

Calling all Mortal Kombat fans - anyone who is interested in working on an indepedant film

This thread is intended as a proposal for those interested in either the Mortal Kombat franchise and/or working on an indepedant feature film.

Basic Information

Quick Info
At this moment in time we are looking for any willing Zbrush modelers to contribute efforts towards 2 characters and an environment for a test scene.

History
The project the test belongs to is based upon the first video game in the Mortal Kombat franchse (originally released in 1992). Although the first film (1995) was a success many fans felt cheated in certain aspects (e.g the abscence of violence, value of martial arts and script itself - which have still to this day not been addressed in subsequent film or television releases). Our aim is to produce an experience not only for Mortal Kombat fans but for those who enjoy the world of martial arts as well.

We? Who’s The Team
Aside from myself being one of the producers, a director, co-writer and offering my knowledge of martial arts; the core team consists of: another producer; writer; two experienced martial artists who between them have studied Shotokan and Goju Ryu Karate, Capoeira, Muay Thai, Ninjitsu and Wu Shu; an experienced user of After Effects (and various other effects programs); three experts on the Mortal Kombat franchise (who know much more than me despite myself being quite a big fan) and a film graduate who specialised in cinematography.

Copyright Infringment?
The product will not be sold and so falls under the category of a non-profit fan production although the term ‘fan production’ is not how the project is seen by those involved as it’s also aimed at those without an interest in the franchise.

Models

This test does not include any characters from the Mortal Kombat universe and has it’s focus on the animation which is why there is a large amount of room for the modelers to be creative. However the reason why there is a specific face (not so much body) for the 2nd character is because one of the characters from this project will be modeled upon the actor (from the reference given) and we are interested in seeing how accurate he can be digitally recreated.

Note: Both characters are human

Character 1
Body/Shape: Reference will be given - large amount of freedom given to the modeler however
Face: [Modeler’s decision]
Costume: Reference will be given
Textures: [Modeler’s decision - although costume reference dictates colour]
Note: Preferably Asian ethnicity

Character 2

Body/Shape: Reference will be given - only an idea, open for creativity
Face: Reference will be given
Costume: Reference will be given
Textures: [Modeler’s decision - although again costume reference dictates colour]

Location

Reference will be given

Maya

Reaching Out On Maya
We are looking for those with experience in either Zbrush or Maya to help with these initial test. When complete, this test will tell us what is possible and what isnt, however we are not expecting any Maya users to come foward as this is a Zbrush message board. When the tasks required from Zbrush are completed will be posting on as many Maya message boards as possible to find those interested in becoming part of this test.

Summary

I hope no one’s intimidated by the amount of information, all we are looking for is for a couple of artists to produce two modes, a simple outdoor environment and to help us import/rig them into Maya for animation. However once the test is complete we will be hoping for many more Zbrush artists to contribute (at that point in time, the complete test will be uploaded for viewing)
