Calling all artists! Help me please.

Hello everyone. I’ll give you the short version of a long story. I’m a vintage toy and cartoon fan and I’ve been trying to produce an add-on item to an existing toy that I own. I managed to track down an artist who said he was interested, but after 6 months of polite emails- nothing has come to pass. I don’t want to wait anymore.

My experience with 3D sculpting/printing is virtually none, however the project is extremely simple. I would imagine that a fairly skilled ZBRUSH artist could complete the sculpt it in an hour or two, maybe 3 at the most. Once the piece is sculpted I plan to cast a prototype in Shapeways. Or if the artist who chooses to help me has a way of making a physical piece using another method, that would be great.

If successful, I would seek to sell copies of the pieces and the artist would receive a commission based on every piece I sell. Honestly, I doubt I’ll be able to move more than 10-20 pieces. The toy is quite rare and few fans of this cartoon are out there on the web. This is a passion project that will probably not make much profit. So if you’re looking for a cash cow, this project is not for you. I will try to make it as painless as possible by providing you reference material, measurements and my expectations. I’m not wealthy. At this point I have $50 to throw at this project. Any future compensation will come from sales of the units.

If we enjoy working together, we could produce more popular ‘add-on’ kits for more visible toy lines that dozens, or hundreds of fans would want. I am willing to spend my time managing the selling, photographing, shipping, returns, and advertising of the add on kits- but I need a serious committed artist to help me with the first step. I do need an artist with experience, skill and a passion for old action figures. I would like the turn around time of this piece to be 1 week from the time we agree to start.

If you can donate a few short hours of your time to help out a cartoon fan, and maybe (with a little luck) make a few spare bucks, please contact me.

Thank you.
