C4D lighting tests-wip(updated01/29/04)

Hey guys, been playing with C4D for a little while, and I just wanted to show some test renders of a building that I am planning to incorporate into my next animation. I still have work to do on this guy, but I’ll post a final render when this wip is done. Let me know what you think!

Hi Sir of Quadalot
Seems very cool
What is the function of the curvatives forms ?
Just decorating ?
Pilou

Thanks Frenchy, the curved shapes on the facade are just part of the decorative motife that will be used to some degree on each of the different buildings that will make up this castle-city. I am debating still whether or not to place small torches at the tips of them or not. (this will be based on render times, and also how they look in the scene.)I’m going to do just a little ZBrush composite in a couple minutes with the HII brush to illustrate what I mean.

Here’s the tower with it’s torches lit. I think it really adds to the buildings character. Now I just have to see if I can accomplish something similar in C4D without adding tons of time to my renders.

He he
Cool use of the curvating form
The 2D draw is of course more speedy than a 3D render!
Have happy rendering!
Pilou
Ps
Recall me a scene of “Blade Runner” movie
a traveling toward the pyramid town
Of course your is more modest, but you can easily multiply with some copy/past

Just really started this scene. Going to really push my computer in the next few days. Here’s another update, no Zb this time. :frowning:

Hello Sir;
Looks very adventurous and mystic. Good start.
one thing that came into my mind was entrance
to the building. I could see for myself two
rows of steps leading to two small double-doors
which of course could contribute to emphasize
the enormousity of the building. Hm… sorry,
I got carried away, it’s not even my project!

Good luck anyway! :+1:

Good observation, I kinda took a break from the modeling just because I didn’t want to rush it. But I was thinking about two doors on each side of the building. I might model some steps in there and see how it looks.

Here’s a little bit more work on this scene.

Its coming along nicely.

May i suggest you take into account that the fog should be illuminated more(also with the color of the buildings lights) around the building. Right now your fog is lit from above only(brightwhite?) - so it seems.

Thank’s Nemo I’m working on your suggestion. I’m still learning the in’s and out’s of C4D, so this is still a big time WIP for me. Anyways here is an update I wanted to show you guys. This is mostly me playing with the camera and render settings. Just started with DOF. I threw some garbage mountains in real quick for this test. Hope you enjoy.

Awesome! very good feel to thewhole scene!
Don’t stop!
:+1:

Same image from above brought into ZBrush. Just to give you guys an idea of what I’m up to.

Yikes! this is geting better and better. The
moss on stairs are so well put and the whole
light setup and contrast is striking. This
could be an adventure pc game.
About the lightning? Hmm…

Great project, sir!
:+1:

Thank you, I’ve been playing alot of Mortal Combat Deadly Alliance while I’ve been rendering. I think it’s style rubbed off a little on me. Anyways, I have perfected more or less several techniques that allow me to paint very quickly in Zbrush. I want to state to all that this last image I posted was just a very quick test of some of those techniques that I plan to incorporate into my final project. I know the lightning looks a little cheap, but I only spent about 20 minutes in Zbrush to create all the post work you see. I really can’t wait to work on this project more, but I only get a few hours a day. :frowning: Anyways I have really cool stuff in mind, including multiple shots of the same scene, consisting of different camera angles, seasons, passing of time, etc. I really have tons of work to do on this, but I’m up for the challenge. Please stop back and let me know what you all think.

Good God…great stuff

I have to get down to this forum more often.
I have to hit the sack, will PM you in my next night.
