Bye bye kruzr

He new since September 2002 that he had a kidney cancer that was too advanced to be treated. His doctor said he only has about 9 month to live.

Kruzr (Mark) passed away August 13. I’m very sad, because he was a real friend for me since years. I have been with him over all this time by e-mail. He moved from California to Texas last May to be close to his family. His son informed me about his dead.

Guitta

This is very tragic news indeed…My condolences to his family.
I came to know Mark when I first arrived here at ZBC, and he was one of the bright lights here for me. I’ll miss him, and I know a lot of others here feel the loss as strongly as I do.

He was one of the ‘Good Guys’…

I have no words.
My heart is broken.

this is shocking me and it is very sad to hear this.i didnt know mark i just know his art.no more words,my condolences to his family.

He was one who encouraged and inspired us all…what a loss…like others here I cant think of words sufficient to convey how much we loved this guy…and how much we’ll miss him…It’s A very sad day… Sincere Condolences to his family.

I havent been here so long as the rest of you guys , but I did manage to see some posts by Mark.

I have no words either , what a loss :frowning:

My Condolences to the family.

have a good one*, Mark!

  • i never knew what this exactly meant, but i always - from back zacademy days - liked to see your posts and the notorious signature below them, ole zbuddy, gone now - and i hate to learn that its never gonna mean the same again, master of polymeshes, textures and honesty!

my interpretation as per now is that i wish you a good transgression to a bugfree, enjoyable paradiso full of bikes and uptodate hardsandsofts just to your gusto. i bet there are no lies there, no brownnosing and that the angels wont wear manties  farewell, zamigo - and yes: have a good one!

PS: thanks for staying in touch with our z-buddy and informing us about the tragedy, Giutta!

I remember Kruzr when he was posting over here a while back. I am sorry to hear of this, and I wish to also express my condolences.

I never really knew Mark. His posts had dropped significantly by the time I had joined ZBC. Nevertheless it is a sad sad day when we lose one of our own. From the posts I have seen of his I could tell right away that he was indeed one of the good guys. I am feeling incredibly sad right now. :frowning:

I knew Mark for over a year before I ever became a moderator here. During that time, he and I would often tag-team member questions; each of us answering from a slightly different perspective which managed to complement each other. A lot of new ideas were born from those exchanges, which were also a lot of fun for all of the teasing that we used to do back and forth.

I’ll always remember Kruzr for his quick wit and great ZBrush skills. He is missed – but I think I’ll take solace in imagining that some sunset one evening might have been ZBrushed by his hand.

Here’s a link to Kruzr’s gallery here at ZBrush Central.

Sorry to hear the news. The two things I remember most about my exchanges with Kruzr was the discussion about how to smooth the seams between objects (this was the thread where many old-timers discovered that Blur and Glow also work on 3-Dimensional objects using ZAdd) and his “Room” challenge.

Two of my favorite images of his was the one of the helicopters and the one with the antique car.

Have a good one Kruzr.

I would like to add my condolences about this loss for the comunity. I didn’t really know him either but his posts in the forum as well as his contributions to the zacademy and the zbrush modeling pdf’s were very helpful to me. Descansa en paz Kruzr.

On several occasions Mark created and sent to me original images to help explain questions I had asked in this forum. They were beautifully crafted images and I deeply regret losing them in the shuffle of changing computers over the years. This forum is founded on his skill and generosity. He had a bad-ass attitude that may have gotten him in trouble from time to time, but I don’t think he had any regrets.

I will always think of him when I see the Kruzr-cool emoticon . That was part of his signature also. This is extremely sad news for me.

I wasn’t here long enough to truly know kruzr, but what I do remember was the help received by so many. Looking through his gallery you can tell he was always willing to help with any question. I also remember his signature block, it always made me laugh. It is indeed a sad day. My condolences to his family. Thanks kruzr…and goodbye, you will truly be missed here. :frowning:

Thanks for passing this information gebe. Mark was always very helpful to me when I joined ZBrush Central in 2001. I missed his work and often wondered what had become of him. Now I know! When I look up at our starlit sky tonight, and I see that extra bright star I will know that Mark is saying here I am. RIP Mark, Master Zbrusher and great human being.
DeeVee,
Joe.

My condolences to Mark’s family.
Mark I always enjoyed your emails and Zbrush gifts. A shame we never did have that beer we promised to share. Time may have parted our ways, but I will not forget you friend.

I don’t know if I have known anyone who was as quick to teach or lend help as Mark. The amount of time and preparation he took in sharing some of his knowledge of the software went beyond just I can “help” as long as it doesn’t inconvience me. He was also a straight-shooter, he said what he meant and he meant what he said, perhaps a little too much so for his own good. I didn’t know him farther than our interaction on this forum but I do know that the world has just become a little less now that he has left the building.

When someone needed help on a technique, Mark was always one of the quickest to reply and it always amazed me at how often his answer was fully illustrated.

He did this for me on several occasions.

Mark was a giver . . .

jd

Like others here I’m little shocked to hear
this. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:
I didn’t know him well, but some of his techniques inspired me to do some of my own images.
My condolences to his family.

Goodby Mark
I will remember you.
