bump, hook, snake and depth brushes crash.work around?

i have found several threads about the bump brush crash…but not about depth brush crash.???is it also a known issue…???
i can use all this tools without any crashes until i load some geometry, (a simple sphere dosent make it crash though), after geometry has been modelled/imported i have to be extremely cautious with those tools (saving constantly or using other tools to achieve similar effects). this applies too hook and snake hook brushes as well. the bump brush crashing more frequently and the depth brush less frequently.

zb 2
1.3 ghz duron (yes you can work even with this)
640 mg ddr 266 kingston ram (2 256 modules and 1 128 )
gforce 4 mx 440 agp 8x 64mgs
msi kt4v mainboard (via based)
windows server 2003 enterprise
hd as dynamic

version 1.55 wont crash with theese but it may randomly crash with the eraser or colorizer.

any feedback will be appreciatted

thanks aminuts…i appreciatte your kind feedback

You don’t always need to duplicate the layer in fact…if you dont bake or if you bake one time…
Just take your tool twice ,scale the first one …quit edit mode but don’t bake it…just let it be a perfect “bavoir” (bavoir is the french word for the bib you put around the baby’s neck when they are eating  ) …redraw the tool …It must be over the first one…if you bake several time …well…the two layers remains a solution…
