I have some brushes with a question mark in the icon. Anyone else? What does it mean? They still work properly but it’s disturbing 
I have that too. Keen to find out what it means.
I think it means the brush was modified and the question mark is to notice the new changes aren’t saved yet. A way to remove that question mark is just save the brush over itself.
But I can’t confirm this at 100%.
Well, although I didn’t modify any settings, I saved and overwrote those brushes and the question mark disappeared

Same thing happened to me. I just reset all brushes under the Brush menu and it fixed them all.
I just installed 4R8.
I have a selection of brushes for my flyout menu so that they don’t all come up. So I just took out most of the defaults and put in my brushes from 4R7. The older ones have the question marks but the ones from the new version do not.
I tried these three things:
Resetting brushes one at a time - question marks remain even after restart.
Reset all brushes - just crashes program.
Save Brush As - wants to save brush to a different location, but I want to keep them in the flyout folder.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I just ended up saving each brush individually. I was able to choose the correct destination folder on the initial brush and all the rest of them went there. All the ones I tried are working fine.
