Brush Symmetry + Trails Modifier bug?

And here’s a video of the problem from my dropbox: Dropbox - 2022-04-20 13-46-43_H.264.mp4 - Simplify your life

Basically, what’s happening is I’m getting some strange brush behavior with the Trails modifier in the Brush menu and the default (and all the different variations of) brush symmetry.

The brush functions fine with either symmetry or trails turned off, but breaks if both are on at the same time. Trails seems to affect the shape of the brush to simply turning it off won’t solve the issue. I’m currently just working around the issue by mirroring and welding, but … feels like there should be a more permanent way to make the brush just work.

This doesn’t seem to happen with all brushes, just the ones with harder circular alphas, or similar shaped VDMs. All alpha’s should be 16 bit, greyscale.

It feels like the brush is trying to act normally for the first iteration of the stroke then it weirdly begins to average the depth out. I’m not sure if there’s an option I’m not aware of, or if this is a bug. But if anyone has any ideas of what could be causing this, I’d appreciate the insight.
