When creating a new file in image editor to create a brush size alpha, place 400x400, 512x512, 1000x1000, 1024.
Does anyone have a didactic explanation or is it by file size quality for performance when sculpting.
I am in sculpture mode and brush for skin and wrinkles. What better size should I save in photoshop or gimp.

For very fine detail 1024x1024 is a good size. Use 512 x 512 for standard detail. (Sizes that are powers of 2 are best but not essential.)
Also, note that in 4R8 there is a new slider in the Brush>Alpha and Texture sub-palette called Adaptive Map Size. This varies the quality of the alpha according to brush size (similar to mipmapping texture display in game engines). Set the slider to 0 to turn off this feature.
Thank you!
