Broken Export Mesh Maps Plugin

*SOLVED: There’s an issue with the plugin where canceling an export may delete UVs. This is what happened in my case.

Hey folks, I’ve encountered a bizarre issue with ZBrush, and so far I haven’t been able to figure it out so I’m reaching out here in desperate hopes that someone knows.

Here’s the issue:

I am using a 2022 copy of the program. I am trying to export a displacement map with the Mesh Map Exporter plugin for my final render in Arnold/Maya. So far it seems like ZBrush itself is broken in some fashion, because no matter what I try, ZBrush simply will not export a .TIF. Either an OBJ file will appear in the file destination where a .TIF should be, or ZBrush tells me it saved but there is nothing in the file destination whatsoever.

Things I have tried:

  • Exporting from earlier saves of the tool.
  • Exporting and re-importing an OBJ.
  • Thinking that my file may be corrupt, I tried exporting disp. maps from completely different projects.
  • Creating a simple primitive, subdividing, and exporting the maps.
  • Restarting ZBrush.
  • Initializing ZBrush.
  • Resetting ZBrush to factory defaults.
  • Reinstalling ZBrush.

So far I’m totally stumped. I was able to successfully do this a few days ago with out a problem! I’m not sure if this is helpful but I’ve attached a screen of my settings.

Displacement Map Settings

Hello @Akelei

Please be sure to read the documentation for the features you wish to use. The following warning is displayed prominently at the top of the MME documentation.

Make sure you back up your work before using the Multi Map Exporter plugin. If you force the plugin to quit by pressing the **ESC** key you may lose your UVs! A ZBrush restart may be necessary to restore your preferences.
