Brick Course placement

In the ZClassroom new video “Tileable Textures and Normal Maps” and also in the video tutorial about using Projection Master to create a Victorian-style brick building, the brick courses are placed one on top of the other by eye, not measurement. When there are repeating objects like that , how is it possible (or, not) to make the placement exact so that they are really offset over one another by a half length?

Thanks.

It’s ‘almost’ exact. Not ‘CAD’ exact. Just try it and you will be surprised how well your eyes can guide you. You will see if you are off a couple of pixels.
There are no alignment tools. You can check a position with the info tabs but that’s tedious and not according to the inventor. ZBrush is an intuitive tool and trying to teach it ‘cad like’ behavior is an exercise in futility. I tried and stopped pretty soon after it started to growl at me… Darn organic software…
