how to preserve texture so to make it mapped correctly from all sides? In 3d max i would have used a BOX mapping, but in Zbrush i cant find a real solution for texturing such shaped objects… Any ideas ?
There’s no box mapping or the equivalent in ZBrush. If you want to be able to use an existing texture then your best option is to assign the UVs in Max and then import them into ZBrush. You can export the lowest subdivision level of your model from ZBrush for doing this. Use the OBJ format.
thanks
UVLayout by Headus is the best I’ve used for UV’s. It not only pelts, scales and packs, but has rectangular mapping and tons of tools and shows the stretching with a heat map so you can tweak and make pristine UVs. Most guys in the industry that I know use UVLayout exclusively. It’s worth checking out.
UV’s generated in ZBrush are never great in my experience. Best to do them outside of ZB.
