Well, clearly normal brushes and tools and Zbrush are specialized in organic modeling. The new Zmodeler extend the Zbrush capabilities to a more traditional hard surface approach. You can do hard surfaces without Zmodeler in Zbrush but certainly Zmodeler makes it easier. The new zmodeler hard surface tools emulate some of the hard surface capabilities in other programs as Max, but not yet to the same extend.
Welcome to ZBrush. Some people will start with a Zmodeled tool to get their base shape down before detailing. You want control, choosing the ‘best method’ to get that control may take more than one try and or technique
i am still a nood have been using zbrush for 8 months still learning anatomy as well
