Boolean with Faces (Maya FBX)

Hi there,

I am totally new to ZBrush, so this could be a silly question.
Sorry in advance:

I am Building some wheel faces in Maya.
To refine the model, I just wanted to try out ZBrush.

Because I already make some boolean operations in ZBrush,
I knew that this works quite nice (with ZBrush native objects).

So I tried to boolean the 5 boldholes of the wheel in ZBrush as well.
I exported the model as a fbx file and followed same way to boolean like before.

Unfortunatelly that doesn´t work at all.

I put some maya and zbrush screenshots in the attachments.
The last image shows the result after boolean in ZBrush.

I am pretty shure that the problem probably is, that I just imported faces and not solids.
Is that right?
If yes, is there a workaround?
If no, what could be the issue?

Thanks a lot for all who might can give a help.

I did make a Volume out of the spokes in maja.
So now its a solid body.
Can I use a face for example, the boldhold or a backface for a boolean operation?
Or will I also need for the second object to trim also a solid?
Means, have I to give the revolved boldhold at least a small witdh to boolean?

Thanks, again!
