boolean Operation? Cut object from one another

Hi I’m working on a skulpture that I want to print out on a 3D printer, as it is to big for the printers platform I need to spit it into peaces. So there for I wanted to make exact cuts where the wings touch the body of the creature I’m designing and later on insert little sticks that would connect the two peaces. (understandable?)

Trying to work with boolean operations I had some difficulties. As far as I understood it works with the remesh tool, which seams to work fine for simple objects but compleatly blures (see screenshots) complex shape (maybe I’m doing something compleatly wrong)

So my question is, do you know any other posibilities to cut one object strait where it meats another, also if its not a strait line and without bluring the shape of the object?

Thanks a lot!

ciao ciriguaya

Thanks a lot! this is really helpful information! I actualy worked already sometimes with magics but mainly to aiding the final mesh and generating the support.

Did you tried out this technique with the boolean tools with the cut pyramids? I’m just wondering why poboyross is generating them in maya, could be also possible to generate them in brush, or? I would be really interested in a more detailed description of this boolean tools should look like.

thanks!
