Boolean brush idea

I love the live Boolean feature in ZB and it got me thinking.
Wouldn’t a Boolean brush be handy?
To be able to chop through and plane off geometry rather than squish the mesh.
Almost like real carving.
Sort of like Freeform .
I have tried modelling the negative spaces like this by manipulating the the invisible subtractor and liked the process in the limited test i did. [got loads of it to do still]
I could almost imagine a brush that that extruded a plane in the direction of movement while smooth sub d-ing as it went along. [dependent on a multitude of impenetrable settings]
Got suspicion that it would be a very hardware intense process though…:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Have a pleasant weekend everyone:smiley:

You’re describing the Trim brushes. They have limitations and may not work on overly complex geometry. But they completely remove the geometry and plane off the excess, not simply flatten as the Clip brushes do.

Bear in mind any process like Dynamesh that auto-closes holes will have limitations to how accurately they can close a complex cut, especially around corners. It’s better to make a series of straight cuts, rather than a single cut with complex angles.

In the future, feature requests should be submitted to Pixologic via support ticket, otherwise you’re making the suggestion to people who don’t develop the program.
