blarg... computer dead... no zbrush...

This is driving me nuts. No zbrush. Limited modelling on my wife’s notebook (bless her she’s been good about giving it up).

Waiting on a part to see if that will fix it, otherwise need a new PC. The anticipation is killing me. If I had money to burn I think I’d be looking at a dual G5, but ha ha not going to happen yet.

I might splurge though and go for a inspiron 9300. With a gig o’ ram and the 6800 go and 2 yr. warrenty it’s about 1700… Which is probably about 700-1000 more than I should spend right now.

With luck the $30 power supply will get me back in business, but if not feel free to recommend a make/model.

If you want a PC, then build it yourself, its not that hard really, I have an identical spec to a top spec machine but saved nearly A £1000 by building myself. So if funds are limited that would be the best solution. If however you want a Mac, you’re stuffed.

Yeah building one yourself is the way to go…you get exactly what you want then.

if not…been buy dell’s since the beginning of the beginning…loved every one of them…and they have been having a lot of 15 to 25% off sales lately so worth a gander and check out the choose the features you want option. sometimes you can upgrade for nothing while dumping something they offer you don’t really need and get an even better price.

MHO only.

ps…make sure if you can’t get a 64 ready machine that you at least get a 32 that is capable of holding at least 2 gigs of ram…3 even better. 4…depends on os whether that is worth the investment.

Well, the power supply came in the mail and it did the trick.

yay! only $30

boo! still stuck with same computer.

If I were to buy an apple this go-round I would start to consider 64 bit issues. However I’m not going to worry about it for windows machine at this time. I’m not confident that 64-bit windows will be real for at least a year, maybe more. By real I don’t just mean “available,” but “available, supported by vendors, and accepted by buyers.”

I hear ya, I’m 64 bit ready but by the time MS & other vendors support it, it’ll be time for another upgrade…

Glad to see the PSU worked, back to work then…
