This is a first installment of what I hope will be a series of busts form Bladerunner. He’s still a bit rough, but I’d still love to hear any feedback on him.
thanks for looking
Here’s some close ups of the blaster:
Good start but what are your front/side view of reference? can you share them?
I think I see a small likeness on the character with the actor but its because of the coat that is so iconic.
Maybe try to match multiple angle of harrison ford and post them here. Always a good pratice to try to match more then 2 refs in 3/4 view
I appreciate the feedback Scote,
I agree with your approach, that’s the method I’ve always used.
I couldn’t find true profile shots, this is the closest I could find:
… but better ref for the front pics:
The sculpt’s got a bit of a way to go yet

And here are some angles that better fit the reference pics above:

Your head from side view is not side view really. I cant paint over. You should share a screenshot of side view with the SHIFT to lock the 90 degree as you move.
I think your side view ref if a good ref. As for the front, there is a lot of camera lens distortion in it so if you cant match that distortion you wont be able to get a proper front. I have some refs of my own that I collect for a futur Han solo or Indiana Jones tribute. Maybe you can try to match those. I will add them on my website soon: www.cgready.com
Here’s a side angle, the one above was angled to match the photo ref I had.
I’d like to see the side ref you have.
thanks!
I think you are not using the proper references. I mean, its way better to get a good side profile and a good front view to start. Currently you are using some other angles and that doesnt help you. If good references exist use them
I find some and I create an other ref profile on my website. Try them
Thanks!
Here’s the latest,
thanks again for looking
Continue sharing Front/side view. Thats how we can judge the improvement.
Like the hair details.
