Best workflows from Illustration to production animatable meshes?

Hi there.

Im always looking to speed my process up, and with Zbrush getting better and more intuitive with every step release I am looking to change the way I work.

Normally I make a good topology mesh right at the beginning, then Finnish in Zbrush, but am enjoying the process of designing characters from Zsphears, and Dynamesh, and here is the problem. Using the standard method of re-topology in zbrush takes forever, fingers, ears, I could model it faster.

I dont know ZRemesher too well, but it seems at best it aids in making a more conformable mesh to sculpt on. I Modo, and again part of MODO,s trend is its constant switching tools, lag, and crashes. So I am open to any better methods out there, or il stick to what works faster, modeling it well to start with.

Thanks.

I prefer retopo in 3D-Coat or Topogun personally. It puts Zbrush’s and Modo’s retopo tools to shame. Give them a look and see what you think. I believe topogun is cheaper but 3d-coat has 3d painting tools that are pretty decent as well.

Hi.

Thanks for the recommendations. Have bee having a play with Topogun, had quite a few crashes, loosing symmetry, and not being able to start from a new point without having to connect to another. I have been finding that allot of triangles are being made, and verts not automatically binding to another as I expect. Will try 3D coat next.

Thanks again.

no problem. I use coat personally.
