Best way to show off Game Assets

Not sure if this is the place to ask…

but i was curious what you guys think is the best way to display game character art in your online porfolio…

I’ve done high resolution artwork for so long… I’m use to either rendering it out with all sorts of bells and whistles or if I’m feeling lazy (or for simplicity) I’ll render out layers directly from Zbrush and comp them…

But I want to display some in-game use models and short of doing a screen shot directly from my viewport… what’s another option for showing off a game model…

(Currently I use Maya hardware HQ as my viewer… )

thanks

seems like this is what you are looking for:

i have not yet tried it but from ppl that use it seems to be great

@danko75: marmoset toolbag looks great! thanks for the hint!

@Brojay: you also could look into UDK. http://udk.com/
with the free tutorials provided you should be able to show off your work with UDK easily (for animation - have a look at matinee http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/MatineeUserGuide.html )

cheers!!

Yeah I’ve had marmoset downloaded for awhile… but have never touched it… I have my character in UDK… I just don’t know a good way to display for say a porfolio… is there a way to do a “render” of sorts? or is the only real option to do a screen grab?

hi brojay! if your character is already setup inside udk, with materials (textures and everything…) why don’t you use kismet to create a nice presentation of it in realtime - later it’s also possible to “render” the output to a videofile. if you’re new to kismet or udk please checkout the tutorials at eat3d.

this one is great and really shows off the presentation-strengths of udk.

also, have a look at the udk-documentation:

very straight foreward and easy to use!

hope that helps,

chem!
