‘Friends Forever’ Friendship Ring with inscription ;
‘‘thru all the tears, laughter and pain…forever friends we’ll always remain…f/f’’

hi, all, I created this WIP in ZBrush 3.5 for my family/friends…after I tweak it some more, I may try n get it turned into a real physical object. still have lots n lots of tutorials to watch, but was inspired to create this ring while watching cannedmushrooms’ Lesson 1, …I was following along with the tutorial, and when it got to the part about the ring primitive, Jason suggested experimenting with the primitives, so I decided to try creating a ring…(this is my first 3d ring, btw)
I mostly used the ‘pen’ brush to inscribe with, and the ‘polish’ brush to form the heart and the inside shape with…could use some more fine-tuning but here it is for now.

Is there a reason for a crack between friends and forever that goes straight through the hart? Perhaps a subconsciousness message :wink:

you’ve never seen the necklaces, bracelets, etc., with two heart sections (with the crack in the middle), where one friend keeps one section of the heart n the other friend keeps the other section ? that’s the idea I was basing it on…:slight_smile:

but then again, I try to keep an open mind about things,…so …here’s another version…I put the line in the middle to represent the ‘f/f’

I think this one works better :+1:

i think in general the friends forever thing doesn’t work with a ring, i mean the purpose of the necklace/bracelet is each person gets to keep half of it, and with this its all remaining as one piece. so as a ring it just doesn’t work the same.

thanks Cherub_Rock and Billy T for your input…like I said, it’s a WIP, so nothing’s engraved in stone (or real gold) yet…

but here’s another WIP, a frog cartoon character…I’ll try n post a pic of it with a decent pose in a little bit, (his legs/arms have to be straightened while working on him, cause his skin will pinch if his legs/arms are bent when I make his adaptive skin.)

but here these are for now…

(p.s…Cherub_Rock, I noticed in one of your threads you were asking how to keep certain thumbnails from showing up…after uploading an image, when you get your image code, just change the ATT and /ATT to ATN and /ATN.

Thanks for thinking of me :slight_smile: I know, I figured that out a while back.

When working with zspheres try avoiding those seams (on some of the fingers and the head), cause you’ll never get rid of them later on and they’ll always bug you. I just try different hings till I get them right

thanks for the tip, Cherub, but the fingers have to be seperated, so how would I avoid seams, ? the ‘polish’ brush seems to ‘heal’ the seams fairly well (if I’m really careful)…but as long as there are seperations, there will be seams, as far as I can tell at this point, so I don’t see any way at all of avoiding seams at this point… got any tips ?.. what kind of ‘different things’ could I try in an effort to avoid them ?

Hey! When you have two chains intersecting you’ll sometimes get a seam. Try making a larger space between two spheres/sphere chains either by moving them or scaling them down.

alright, thanks …will try that…
