BATMAN - redesign -

hi! sorry i couldnt anwser earlier (im on a deadline right now)

it seems like the opinions on the head are kinda divided. anyway i think im gonna try some modification on it and see where it takes me.

HYDE: thanks for putting so mutch interest on this. About the gauntlets, its been a personal decision to avoid the classic ones. i think they dont define the character, so instead i prefer to suggest them with the lines.
just a personal detail.

and good idea about a joker verison!!

thanks again

VinceRizzi: thanks a lot. ill be posting some render and composition info soon

Mahlikus The Black: sorry about that, i resized the image and it become confusing. The brush ive used for the division was the DAM STANDARD BRUSH. its a modification of the standard with little pinch on int. great tool

SadamHu: thanks man, i agree wiht you. This model in fact do not intend to be photorealistic. but it should be harmonic though.

antisymmetry: the base mesh was created in max, the uv was unwraped in “Unfold3D” (wich i love) and then adjusted in max. and then retopologized in 3d coat

renaud bellefon, dante90ita: thanks, im glad you liked it. ill post some views

Excellent, Thanks man!

here is a turntable

for better quality

LOL…nice! Why stop at those pieces?

Hi,
i love this a very dynamic design, great style and a nice place to start if this was ever to be made into a real suit.
I think some of the critique is a little too picky, not everything here has to be anatomically correct, most movie stuff and art is incorrect by default, these arnt medical models

no criticism from me just great design.
simon

I love the feel of this design…would love to actually see it animated!!

lighting setup:

the main light is a spot with pretty sharp shadows
the two fill light are vray light wich generate good ambient light and very soft shadow.
and for me the most important, the rim lights. nothing sofisticated. just two omni light with hard shadows.
i put them not behind the character but a little on the side to simulate the light dispersion over the surface without makin a complex material.

hope you find it usefull

Wow Juan,
One of the best models i’ve seen in a wile,
Cannot get better then this,
Congratulations
Cheers!

i would simply give more space for his mouth in his mask. like you’ve made i doubt he can even talk. all the rest is AMAZING. top notch work.

I’m glad to see this in the top row, i think it’s superb, i love the first crouching picture you posted up!:+1:

Like some others here, the only slight problem i have is with the mouth area. I wonder, have you considered covering the mouth up with some kind of respirator/communication device? I think it’d look quite sinister and would be in keeping with the rest of your already awesome updated design.
I must admit, i feel slightly silly making a suggestion to someone who had created something as great as this.

really nice sculpts. congratulations.

Great work overall :+1:

As for the design I don’t like the cloth parts and I think the neck area in the mask is way to thick/dense. He would have a hard time turning his head etc.

But it’s a very interesting approach and top executed - good job :sunglasses:

Cheers!

im sorry about how my critique may have sounded. sharp. i didnt mean to be rude. what i meant to say was, wow. amzing. i think what i was getting at was, i know how when u start and finish a model, there is a trance you can get into. and u can kind of lose perspective of proportion throughout the process. the model made it to top row, which says Much about how great this work is. i was tying to be your eyes outside the visual box its easy for the best modelers to get stuck in.

i guess my criitique is more… the muscles on the neck, with the head. it seems a sharp style change. almost as if you had an idea in your mind, then your taste level jumped a notch in mid model. the body seems much more on the “realism” side of things, whilst the head is more in a “stylised” ideaology. its just someting that jumps at first glance.

there is no attack on my part. and i know this is a public forum… so i appologise.

the only reason i pointed out this was that i was running into something similar doing a comic character, trying to find a balance between real and fantasy. and its funny, only when u truly put each up against the other how you can notice the drastic difference.

i would say though, that you have to find what the majority of the model says… then work the other 10 percent to solidify the thing entire.

beautiful work. beautiful.

theres just something about the prportion of the head.

i know u got this in the bag. i was just trying to lend some outside support. no insult intended.

grats on this one.

and the texturing and rendering is so damn solid.

Yeah! the bat’s mask is a little wierd, but that’s a powerful work, congratulations.

Great job bro insane details on the suit.

take care.

Amazing work! Quality and realism is unbelievable!

Wow. I am really jealous. Your are truly a master with zbrush. That has got to be the coolest batman conept I have ever seen. You are the master. I am a student and currently learning 3d modeling and animation. I have zbrush but just at beginners stage. I have along wqay to got to reach your skills. I spend most of my money on dvd tutorials. If you ever released one , I will be the first to purchase

great work! I would love to see this as a full feature movie for batman begins or something like that.

keep up the great work

cheers!

The lower belt seems likely to fall off or at least restrict his movements. The neck and sternoclastoid muscles seems too thick but it might just be the cowl creating a illusion. I think the materials and lighting is great and your chest plate is awesome. I agree the first pose looks good.
No opinion on the rest as it’s not my cup of tea.
