Baseball Tutorial

Perhaps its a bit too much. I included the Illustrator and Photoshop steps, but here is the Baseball Tutorial.

121 feedback is appreciated…

Excellent tutorial Kaz. As far as 121 - the only thing I would add - is on the first page - the graphic you showed previously when you compared a texture/bump map version versus actual displacement of the mesh. When seen side by side the power of the ZBrush method cannot be denied.

One thing I particularly like about this tutorial is that it helps reveal, illustrate a creation method that is not obvious.

Very Good :+1: :+1: :+1:

Wow Kaz, extremely well written and easy to follow. I agree with Impending, the final product would be good to show. Also it might be helpful, even thou the bitmap creation can be accomplished in most any drawing program given your Illustrator Steps, it might be good to include the finished bitmaps so that people could just use them for the Zbrush application of the technique.

Would you mind if I linked your PDF to Z-Place?

Hi Kaz . . . Great tutorial! It’s even easy enough for someone as dense as myself to follow.

The only thing I’ll have to do different, is I use “FreeHand 8” instead of “Illustrator”.

Have a good one & Thanks . . . Mark.

if at all possible can you change this tut.to a zip file for downloading please because i would like to have this tut. forever thanks

Thanks for the feedback. I will make those changes tonight.

Digits, I will add the bitmaps here as well, good suggestion! And, yes. You can link to it by all means. When I make my changes, I will keep the link the same…

John. If you need to download this to your hard drive, just right click on the link above and choose “Save Target As”. Because it is already a compressed file (PDF) zipping it only reduces it by 200k. I will still add a zipped version to this thread after I make the suggested changes above.

After looking over the Tutorial again, I realize that its a bit overdone. As a trainer I have always created tutorials that show several different tools and different aspects of them. So, when you get done, The hope is that you know a little more about each of the tools used. It’s not a staight path and is not meant to be.

So, with that being said, what would you guys do differently?

Also, Is there anyway to get a better resolution on the alpha brush when used as a mask? Did I leave something out?

There you have it. More ranting…

Made the changes and included files within the PDF. The link above should still work.

Here is the final tool:

I had major computer failure. My back up system failed me once again (oh yeah, I have no back up…)

So, the only file I am able to find right now is attached. Within the file there are links to other files, which are not availabel at this time. I will look around some more. Perhaps they can be found and put back together…
