Baking To Background Panorama. Answered (+ Tips).

In my rececnt install of 4R2 I have noticed that I am missing the CURVITURE button from the ‘Light’, ‘Background’ menu. Instead I have a create button. I see in some tutorials that the should be a curviture button to turn your background flat or spherical to either generate a lightCap or use as a background.

I cant use a normal background like this!

Anyone else had this problem?

The curvature button was only available in the beta version. In Z4R2 it was replaced with the ‘Create’ button. See tips bellow…

Tip 1: Press the create button to create a flat color panoramic background. From that point on, you can use the ‘Snapshoot’ button (shift+‘S’) to bake your model to the panorama. If you have a 3D plane with texture applied, you can bake it to the panorama and be able to rotate your view by using the slider in the light:background subpalette.
Tip 2: If you execute a BPR render, you’ll be able to bake the BPR render, including shadows, into the panorama.

that was a cool tip thanks

I think I may of misworded my problem. I dont need to bake the background I need to simple have a photo panorama in my background to display my model on when using LightCap and match the shadows.

Whenever I use the create button I just get a grey background. I want to have the background I am using for my LightCap as a flat background to align my model too and match the shadows onto. I tried the document import but it vanishes when I BPR render and I cant create a background from this. It seems like a lot of effort to create a background by using a plane to then create a background when there was a button that just turned your Light cap sphere into a flat plane in on press.

Am I missing something. It seems the ‘curvature’ and ‘create’ buttons do very different things and would of been useful to of had both.
