hi there,
Bit of a noob question I’m afraid. I’m using xnormal to bake my maps from the hi-poly onto a low-poly model. The character has various accessories attached to his body (clothing, armor, etc). These accessories are separate meshes. I’ve tried combining the meshes into one obj. for both the hi and low poly versions, but the maps come out with a bunch of errors, especially when they intersect. Baking each object separately works better for normal maps, but naturally I lose the AO those object cast on eachother.
I’m simply wondering what the best baking method is when I’ve got multiple parts on my character. Some tools (topogun) allow for “dummies” to be placed in along with your target model, but that doesn’t seem to be a very elegant solution.
and if anyone knows of a good tut on baking, I’m all ears!
Thanks fellas!
