Hey All, Im having a problem Unwrapping my object in Zbrush and dont know why it is doing what it is. Im new to Zbrush but know what a decent UV should look like and the result im getting is not usable in any way. in pic 1 you see the objec t with no UV’s as i deleted them to make sure there was no conflict somehow. the second shows what the Uv’s look like when i go to UV’s and Morph to view the UV. As you can see the polygons are way out in relation and proportion to each other but mainly not even in view on the UV map like they are stacked on one another. any thought or recommendations ?
It might becoz u are using Zbrush’s default UV unwrapper.
I think u should use UV master.
It is in the plugin in the title bar or whatever u call it.
Just hit unwrap and flaten to see uvs.
If u have problem go to zbrush directory & find the documentation.
You can try doing the UV’s again and see what they look like. If they still look odd, use ZRemesher on the object and it might do a better job of remeshing, especially in the recessed areas.
The images above are from UV master . I remeshed also and getting even worse results
First image is the actual object. I lower the subdivision to its lowest then unwrap in UV master. The second image is the result after Morph in the UV pallete.
You’re working on a clone?
what settings in UV Master are you using?
What do your Flat UVs look like in UV master?
yes im working on a clone and the uv’s look the same. I managed to protect and attract seams and had alot better results. i think the main problem is , is that for some reason it is not creating automatic seams and it is just flattening the object. I say this because when i use UV master without protect attract and unwrap then hit check seams there are none.
Try masking half the mesh and making a polygroup from the mask (ctrl+w)
Then use polygroups when unwrapping. Should give you an okay result, but breaking up a rock is always a fun task…
