bad anti aliasing

hi, simple question:

did the the aa or the way zbrush handles the border of your model in the viewport became that bad in version 3/3.1 ?

i can’t allways work in aa-half-mode because of the performance, but in z2 there was no need for that.

but now i have a lot of white points on the border of my model when i don’t use aa-half…and even then the sometimes appear?

is this zbrush-related or is it something that could be caused by my videocard/system/driver…?

I’ve not heard of problems of this sort before but it may be related to the material you are using - a screen shot would be helpful here.

I’ve seen that happen on mine with a very large polycount when my system ram is low and I try to zoom in. If you reboot and try it again and it seems ok I would say it is to do with low amounts of Ram etc.

What are your system specs?

i found out that it seems to be espcially visible with bright mat-cap-materials.

this one is the “MatCap White Cavity” wich i use a lot, because i could’t get used to the red wax…

on his hair u can see what i mean (on my tft display these points are very bright. on my crt it looks better), when u zoom out to see the complete model it sometimes becomes worst and that bothers me, it’s more hard to appreciate the shape/outline of the model.
(to be honest it’s more my customer who doesn’t like it)

have a P4 at 3.2 GHz and 3 GB of ram on windows xp prof. (32 bit)

Yes, I’ve noticed this with some of the MatCap materials. If you are exporting a still then you’ll need to clean up in Photoshop. Or if you are showing a client your model on screen then use a different material, perhaps a variation of the Fast Shader.

Here is an adaption of the MatCap White Cavity material which reduces the effect which you may find useful.

your models scale has goten out of hand. Heres a test

  1. click out your tool from the pallet if its taking up the whole work area and you barely drug out your model onto the canvas this model has become larger than normal and the scale of the model does play apon alot of Z3 performance issuses and brush problems.

Goto tool / deformation / unify the spin around your model a little see if that helps.

Now if you are dealing with subtools you need to combine them before you unify or they will get smaller than your other subtools and will not line up properly.

I had that same problem on my last model I worked on;)
hope that helps
