drawing mask without backface is controllable in Brush>AutoMasking parameter.
but when I use selectlasso to make mask, Is it possible to ignore back face??
Hello @katosaori ,
Back Face Masking works with many brush-based tools. If you enable Back Face Masking for the active masking brush it will ignore back facing surfaces if you’re painting the mask with brush strokes.
The various selection marquees however are designed to “select through” so that all points under the selection marquee are selected. Back Face Masking does not apply to this feature.
The only 100% effective way to keep geometry from being affected by an operation is to hide it. If your opposing surfaces are separate polygroups it is a simple matter to hide one or the other with a click using the polygroup visibility shortcuts.
Hello @Spyndel
I appreciate for the advice.
I understood. Polygroup is effective to hide from select lasso
Hi @katosaori
In case you are not aware of this, it is very easy to hide the back when you use the “Group Front” button in “Tool > Polygroups”. You can use that to create front and back polygroups then just “Ctrl+Shift+click” on the front to hide the back.
