Backface Masking Issue

Hey all, I’m new here to ZBrush / ZBrush Central, and I apologize if this is commonly asked…

I’m having an issue painting a mask on a thin object/sub-tool. The object is the character’s shirt, but painting a mask (using the MaskPen brush) on the surface also paints on the inside of the shirt as well (both sides). I have Backface Masking turned on and I know it’s working because it prevents sculpting on both sides, but doesn’t prevent mask painting on both sides.

Is there something I’m missing?

Howdy.

Be sure to turn on backface masking while holding ctrl for the masking brush.

The Automask settings are stored independently for each brush, so having it on for one won’t turn it on for everything else (including the masking brushes).

Personally, I moved my Backface Masking button out onto the main UI so that I can keep an easier eye on it, and not have to dig for it every time.

Ah, there it is! That had been bothering me for almost a week. Thanks so much Cryrid.
