Backface Masking for Masking ?

When i am masking an object with the mask tool, the mask is always projecting through the
whole mesh. Even when i got backface masking turned on.

Is there a way to solve this problem ?

You need hold Ctrl to turn on backface masking so that it’s on for the masking brush.

Sorry maybe i was not specific enough…
the backface masking works when the masking Pen tool is turned on.
But it is not working when i use the rectangle or lasso mask tool.
Backfacing mask doesnt work with those. the masknig always gets projected through.

any solution?

Polygroups, group front and then hide the back.

so no direct workflow ?

thanks for this workaround.

So I have a similar question. I am using the MaskCircle Brush and when I hold Ctrl and draw out a circle mask, the mask goes right through the cylinder regardless of whether or not I have the BackfaceMask option enabled or not. Is this how ZBrush supposed to behave, and I need to do a workaround or is this something that shouldn’t be happening?

Thanks for the help and clarification.

@3DNut: This is the default behavior…

@Regnas: Well, that is exactly what I needed to know so thanks for responding.
