AUV displacement map problem

Hello,

I was trying to learn how to add geometry to a model (shown in top image) I was working on in zbrush by bringing it to maya, adding geometry followed by bringing it back into zbrush and re-projecting the detail using a displacement map generated using AUVs. The result was a very sliced up model (shown in bottom image). Could someone tell me why this might of happened. I expect it is because I wasn’t using AUV properly.
