autopsy old guy.

Hello again,
heres my latest piece, the head was done for a demo from a retopo’d sphere, i decided to pop him under a cloth on the autopsy slab, ive still got plenty to do, im having lots of fun with the skin detail & making the bench ,maybe my Vincent Price is the doc in this scene!

Very cool man!
Wouldn’t his eyes be closed tho?

I’m digging it.

thanx abnoid,
you make a good point regarding the eyes, i am going to close them and leave a hint of a dead eye showing- though i have seen a still of an open eyed corpse after autopsy, id always assumed it must have been some form of facial rigor mortis!? anyway the closed eye is definitely more typical.
glad you like him so far. :+1:
heres the pic showing a bit of his construction method starting from a sphere. demo old man 5views.jpg

hi guys,
heres a little update, just rolled the eyes back and been having a paint, going for an initial decomposition look , ive got lots of blood settle in the back but it doesnt show too much here though, hope you like :qu:

Argh, with the paint job its really convincing. Nice work:+1:

hello there, this is looking very nice. I really like it. But I would like to make a small crit. I was a undertaker in my forma years (now I do 3D lol) , when we had body’s that been from a autopsy they were much better stiched up. you have really big gapes in urs. al so as well with the cloth over the body the stome of the boys always looked sunk in as if you could see the ribes. is some cases you could even see it on fat peopel.

But well done very good. keep it up. oh yer and befor i you ask i dont have any refances photos that would bee wired.

Ash

thanks Dman3d glad you like him painted :+1:
thanks Ashleysparling, hey thats quite a career change ! thanks for your input, ive done loads of fake autopsy stuff over the years, i suppose i was bored of the same look, so ive gone for a slightly rubbish popped open stitch, thought it was a little more visual ! still lots to do, feet , cloth, bench etc…

Hi! Dig your work, I don’t know if you were still coming to it, so forgive me if I am being rude, but the sheet could do with a more realistic look, especially on the edges. My suggestion is to take the model in a 3d software and make a plane above it, apply the cloth modifier and see how it lands on you’r model, U san then use any point in animation of the cloth to export an obj of it. I’m doing this all the time. I’m using max and here’s how I do it - I animate whatever I want, then move the time slider to where I like the model the best for my still image, disable all other objects and export to obj - and that’s all the is to it. I do it especially with cloth and fabric! :sunglasses: :+1:

ha , thanks cherub_rock, you managed to pick the thing thats still bugging me !! nope i dont have another 3d app, so im just going to knuckle down with some ref and wing it !! :+1:

I edited my post, just so you know  ok good luck and looking forward to seeing it finished!

I give you a ztool created in 2 minutes to perhaps interest you and the others , and show you that you can save a lot of time on modeling fabrics with a 3d software help :) Nothing except divisions done in zbrush, all 3ds max obj exported to ztool. Needless to say you can do your cloth, clothes, fabrics model in zbrush, import it to a 3dsoftware and apply the cloth modifier to it so it acts more natural, play with different gravity, mass, and wind settings as well. But for study purposes it's of course good to create your own effects to attain the sensibility, I'm past that stage and make use of physics engines as much as I can. VERY nice work! Grim, but nice!

One comment.

I don’t know if you’ve seen cadaver pictures of someone dead lying on their back, but it tends to happen that the blood will obey gravity and flow to the back of the body.

It means that the back of body tends to be darker than the front.Unless they are drained of course, but then you won’t get as much show in the veins. Again that’s unless they are rotting of course, but if that was the case in you’re dead old man, then you would have distortion and shrivelling of the eye balls.

Anyway, point being I love this work! It’s really impressive, just remember blood follows gravity.

5* from me!

I like this alot but jus one minor crit, dont know if anyone else has mentioned, its a wee bit blurry, other than that cool:cool:

what method/alpha did you use for your great skin pores on the face? great job.

hey Cherub_rock, very interesting technique :+1:
hi dustbin_uk, yeah ive seen one or two pics !! youd laugh your head off if you saw my folio…its still a wip, for some reason these images dont reveal the liver mortis that ive applied i may have to bring it further round, or maybe ill give him purple feet & say he died standing up !!
thanks jonnyd’artiste, there was me carefully pulling focus !! this was a quicky though , ill do better next time !
appreciate your imputs… :+1: :+1:

hi monteford2002, i used a few alphas i made from close ups of skin, and then worked with single pores pushing in and pulling out, ive also made a very fine brush to do careful fine details with too. Ive got some life casts here to look at that were a big help.

Looks great so far, man. I like that you’re sculpting the blanket instead of siming it. Sculpting cloth is a time-honored tradition, and worth mastering. I can totally envision the table having blurry reflections, and there being a drain on the floor with blood swirling down it. Maybe some crusty old tiles or something

thanks dustinbrown, i like the tiled floor approach, ill try and keep this one going. i seam to have about 8 pans on the boil
thanks for your input
