Arshakar Hunter

Wort,

After a great deal of time lurking and learning I have gained the courage to post one of my works in the Trial. Can’t wait till I have the finances to purchase zBrush.

This character is one I thought up myself while listening to Bruckner’s 7th. The lower half of the mask is obviously inspired heavily by Blizzard’s SCII Reapers. In this case, the mask is a defense from the deadly gases that some of the native plants produce throughout their favored hunting grounds.

“The character in question is known as an Arshakar Huntsman or Hunter, and can be found silently stalking the wildlife of Insakaar in groups, using its stun-darts and primitive spears with frightening speed and accuracy.
Centuries of technological advancement have changed its tribal demeanor very little, and its natural cunning and swiftness remain the greatest assets in its possession.”

Pardon me, but I prefer to give my characters a story as it makes them easier to visualize. Bring on the crits and comments!

EDIT: I also added the Alpha for the Tribal Marks. Might add it to the Alpha Library later. Feel free to make use of it for your own work as well…it only took 22 seconds to make. http://209.132.96.165/zbc/images/smilies/biggrin2.gif

Hello and thanks for sharing. You will need to focus more on developing form before you start subdividing and adding alphas.

Wow, a reply already.

Any particular direction you are suggesting? I am aiming for a reptilian creature overall, but also used a Frog reference for the front portion of the head. It produced the general look I was after.

I know the more I look at those random segments on the sides of his neck, the more I want to get rid of them. Too much random doodling.

I want to learn as much as possible before my trial expires, so please, keep it coming.

I would strongly look at reptile reference and study the forms and how things are relating to each other. Also, when youre sculpting make sure that youre looking at things from different angles. keep practicing!

Redone.

Well, I removed the hard surface stuff and went heavier on the reptilian side. He reminds me of a sketch I did a long time ago for someone’s avatar.

Also, I’ve included a decimated ztool to allow more freedom for the others who wish to view this. Its not the easiest thing to present the most of a 3D object using 2D images.
