Dude, I like your model, the level of detail is pretty good. Did you use subtolls for clothing or just one tool?
Keep the good work.
thanks sir, i used subtools like crazy on this model so to awnser your question, yes all the clothing are separate subtools.
dude this is kick ass!!! im working on a soldier myself for a crysis mod. not going soo smoothly right now though. mostly because of limitations for the game engine.(dont know if i can use subtools for this specific game model) I love the belts and patches. are you using this for a game?? id very much appreciate it if you could give me some pointers on modeling my character! I mostly model creatures so modeling non organic things is a bit of a jimmy for me. any advice would be very much appreciated. thanks in advance.
hey nerveink, glad u like it. this model was not for a game it was just a personal project i did. so for this mesh all the parts are broken up for the subtools. You could do this for your model as well, just break everything up as you need and then when you export it combine the low res mesh togeather in max or maya and delete all the unneeded faces to create the low res cage. (if that makes sence) then you could export the high res from zbrush and use that to generate your normal maps.
as far as sculpting non organic things, i would say that cloth is very organic and to treat it the same way you would anything else. but try and use very loose strokes and work on medium subdiv levels to help grab control. the lazy mouse feature is a must for this stuff. its also nice to tweak the standard brushs brushmod slider to get some pinching which can save you a lot of time. but hey you should upload what you have so far to the fourms, im sure everyone will have something positive to say,
