How can you apply diplacement map from multiple tile? I know how to do it from the displacement tab but is it possible to do it like in Mudbox and taking into accound the multiple tiles?
Thanks.
If you’re doing it using the Tool>Displacement Map sub-palette then you need to use the Tool>Polygroups>UV Groups button to create polygroups based on the UV tiles. Once you’ve done that you can Ctrl+Shift+click on a group to show it, then generate the displacement map. Turn on polyframes - hotkey Shift+F - so you can see what you’re doing.
Alternatively you can use the Multi Map Exporter plugin to generate the maps automatically.
Thanks marcus,
What I was looking for is the other way around. After creating a base displacement map in mari I want to import the displacement in zbrush and apply it to a model with different UV tiles to refine the sculpt.
At the moment the only workaround I found was to apply the displacement in mudbox and export the model back to zbrush to sculpt.
Sorry, I misread your question. You could try using the UV Groups option to separate the different mesh portions, though you’ll need to work at high res to get the displacement detail. It might be slightly easier to use Groups Split first and work on separate subtools before merging them back together. If you use Merge make sure the UV and Weld options are on.
