Appcrash Zbrush3.1 help please!

I have the trial version of ZBrush running on a Windows7 laptop with 6 GB RAM, Intel core I7 quad core processor, NVIDIA graphics card. I’ve had the trial for 5 days and had planned on going camping on Friday for a week or so, with part of my vacation being learning ZBrush. I have been making my way through some beginner tutorials and had completed the step a few times, but had to re-do everything (lots of learning!). When I got to the step yesterday I received an appcrash error and ZBrush shuts down. Nothing about the computer had changed that I know of. The day before it would complete this step, the next day it crashes. I have uninstalled/reinstalled twice. It crashes when I change a parametirc tool into a polymesh and then try to use a deformation. After nudging the deformation slider it crashes.

Help? I’m leaving Friday and will have no internet access, so I am crossing my fingers that I can get it sorted out before then…

I think I fixed it…running it in both admin and XP compatability mode.

Update: that fixed it temporarily. Got through the excercize once, had to go back an re-do it and got the appcrash in the same place again :frowning:

There’s a known issue with 3.1 where when you first select a model or SubTool you must do something to it (even as basic as to rotate it slightly) on the canvas before using a deformation.
