Anyway to remask a fibermesh beard prop?

So I wanted to know if there is a way remask the roots of the beard prop I made and exported so I can keep adding morph options to to be used in another program?

Thanks so much
Richard

Hi Richard. Please correct my understanding of your issue if it isn’t right:

You have a subtool of generated fiber mesh strands. You would like to mask the roots of all those strands so the tips can still be posed?

If that’s correct I would draw your attention to the “Mask By Fiber” section of the Masking Palette. Ctrl Mousover the Fibermask button to see examples of how the masking curve can be altered to get what you want. It may take some trial and error. Dont forget about the ability to grow and shrink masks for fine tuning.

The “Mask By Color” feature could also probably be used, if your fibers have distinct root and tip colors.

Hmmm, OK. I’ll give the first idea a try. The beard is pretty thick but it’s short. If all else fails I can just recreate it but my last attempt at doing that was not that good, hence wanting to get this successful one’s roots re masked so I can pull it out longer and add some shaping to it.

I should add, that if you’ve already exported and re-imported the fiber subtool, the first option wont work. It will work if you still have the original Zbrush file of it prior to export though.

Hmmm, not sure if I have that file… sometimes I save out a proper file, sometimes I just export and close ZBrush…
