Anyone studying or working in Germany in CG-industry?

Hello guys!:D:D

:confused:small_orange_diamond:confused: Yeah I know I should have done it before coming to Germany But it’s never too late a quote says… :confused:small_orange_diamond:confused:

So I come from Cyprus. I would like to study 3D-Animation. But here’s the thing. Most of the people I’ve known have gone to UK to study this major , but myself , I have gone to Germany (for some reasons) and I’m re-thinking if I’ve done the right thing .(Currently I’m doing the language courses in Duesseldorf) . Is there any community about that stuff in Germany? How’s CG industry there? (I mean I know that there are some filmschools in Potsdam and in Baden-Wurtterberg (the widely-known Filmakademie).:confused: )
Also , is there anybody else who wants to study 3D Animation/Anything that has to do with 3D software or drawing both digitally or traditionally or work in Germany? Message me here! It would be nice if we all could meet too somewhere in Germany!

Hey! Yeah, there are a lot of us out here actually. I’m living in Cologne, studied at the SAE Institute. You might want to join “German games industry - game on have fun” - Facebook group! or the European Games industry - game on have fun!

Oh Cologne’s pretty much close to Duesseldorf haha :smiley: . I’ve heard about SAE institute , it has sub-institutions all around the Europe , but as far as I know SAE institute is a private school , which means its fees will be freaking expensive , which is one of the reasons I came to Germany ( pretty low/almost non-existent fees) . Basically I wanted to enhance my skills in 3D software . I can’t say that I’m really into the gaming because I’m more creating the 3D stuff just for the cause. Like , it’s been centuries since I’ve played a decent 3D videogame. What field I would like to specialise in? Uhm… Let’s say the more “Artistic/Iluustration” part of the 3D? I’ll give that group a try … Are you Currently Studying Vadim or you’re going to begin?

Yeah, I know, the fees are way too much. Actually I already finished with my Bachelor of Art at the SAE Institute, but not long a go a school wanted me as a lecturer in Maya, sadly I use 3DS Max. So here are a few schools you might want to look at!

Oh did you actually finish? Cool! If it’s really expensive then I would rather attend courses for Zbrush/Autodesk Maya and meet people who are into this kind of stuff… or else I would have saved money and pack my stuff to go to Gnomon School (If I had that much money to get there…plus I have to improve in my drawing skills). If you could , please suggest other Zbrush/Maya/Keyshot/Digital art groups located in Germany.

Yeah I did, but haven’t been really working in the industry since. Just doing a few jobs, like for indie-devs and filmakademie, and rest of the time lecturing at sae.

gnomon is so much wow. I’d love to go there, but as you said it, too expensive.

well, you can just go on facebook, look for any zbrush/sculpting/modeling related stuff and you’ll find a lot of groups there. Zbrush Challenge of the month, ten thousand hours, Level up, Daily speedsculpt… those are just a few, but facebook can be actually pretty nice for stuff like that, my timeline is full of sculpts and models =D

thanks, but it’s just the start… needs a lot more of work to get where I want.

I’ve made my search on facebook but didn’t find any. I guess I’ll find artists from Artstation.com located on Duesseldorf to ask them about groups.

Oh hey, I used to live in Cyprus for a couple of years as a kid! Whereabouts are you from? I remember deciding I wanted to be an artist whilst living there, it’s a shame there isn’t much there industry wise though. I don’t know much about Germany though sadly as my family moved back to the UK.

You probably made a good decision though, the UK isn’t too great right now for international students, I wouldn’t tie myself down to studying for the next 3/4 years here to be perfectly honest. The future is rather uncertain in the UK right now, although I suppose you’d get a good cash conversion deal haha :slight_smile:
