There’s a way you can do this. It’s not ideal but it is a solution:
- Set up your model so that it is positioned how you want.
- In the Document palette, go to the ZAppLink Properties sub-palette and press the “Front” button. This stores the current view of your model.
- Press Ctrl+F on the keyboard. This will fill the canvas. Your model will disappear but don’t worry, we’re going to bring it back in the next steps.
- Click and drag downwards on the canvas to draw out your model (don’t worry about how large it is or its position) then press “T” on the keyboard to enter Edit mode.
- Press the “Front” button in ZAppLink Properties. This will restore your model’s position.
Filling the background like that will allow you to start a sculpting stroke off the model. You can rotate and reposition the model if you want by using Right+click navigation or click+dragging outside the white line canvas frame.
To get rid of the background and return to normal sculpting simply press Ctrl+N on the keyboard.
