I’ve had this book on pre-order since last year and each month Amazon changes the price a bit and then changes the ship estimates forward a month.
Anyone hear any reasons for the delay?

Unleashing ZBrush

The book is being written to be current for ZBrush 2.5. So naturally, the book’s completion will coincide with the release of version 2.5. It can’t then be published until some point after 2.5 has been released.
Please do not make the mistake of believing that the Amazon publish date has any correlation whatsoever with the ZBrush 2.5 release date. The publish date is a guess, only and could be moved forward or back depending on what happens with ZBrush itself.
…of “Unleashing”?
Letting go, as in letting a hungry, ferocious, dog off the leash (or lead).
In this context the meaning is a little more subtle. More along the lines of ‘discovering and utilizing the full potential of ZBrush’.
Aurick: Figure Brad Pitt for you in the movie Y/N?
( Josh Molina is free also)
Aurick you tease!!!
Lemo
Unleash in that context: Release into the world to perform it’s magic or mischief ;).
Still…if I were to take what you say here literally, it would seem to indicate your (someone whos actually in the position to know) best “guess” as to when we might see 2.5 is September?
Thats a bit discouraging.
Congrats on the book though!
No, …i think it means that Aurick is “guessing” that in September he has been playing with 2.5, written some new chapters for his book, that has gone to the printer and then to the shops…BUT that all this COULD happen sooner, or later then 20 September, so (f) actualy we don’t know anything more then before, but are happy anyway because : “some news is better then no news !” …and now its time to take some pills to calm me down
jantim
Ahhh…I see. Looking back, he says the book will be released at “at some point after” 2.5 is released, and 2.5 could come out at any point before or after the suggested pub date.
Well, thats all cleared up then.
Somebody please shoot me.
The has just been push back to November It was September. So I think a release at Sigrapph is not going to happen.
Yeah yeah, I know I’ll get flamed about not being patient etc. But I think I (and many others) have been pretty patient. I’m not asking for an update today, tomorrow, or even in the next six months. I’d just like to know from the folks at Pixologic when the target plans are for a release. I’d ask the same from auto desk, or apple etc. for other software I paid for. Frankly,it just seems a little bush-league of Pixologic not to have some more official stance on the future of ZB. I mean, they roll out the whole “road map” to ZB 2.5, and then flat line for over half a year?
I think ZB ver. 2.0 is a really great package, and a while ago I asked the studio I work for to consider buying a bunch of licenses. So we purchase a bunch of seats, and as we are trying to integrate it in to a pipeline where hundreds of artists will be effected, we can’t really plan out how might use it in the future because there is no release date or even perspective time table for a release. Things like the retopologizing or volume rigging tools look very promising, but we can’t plan on testing any of that because we have no clue when it will be available.
I’m still hoping to see something at siggraph this year, but frankly, I’m getting a little jaded with some of the lack of accurate response from the folks at Pixologic. I really hope I can look back on this post one day soon and think about how wrong I was to doubt the Pixologic team. sigh.
It might be better if you could appreciate that your concerns and those of a thousand people in industry jobs like you are just not important. You’ve been told that the release date was a target and could change, you’ve been told that when a date can be given, it will be announced.
Since nobody on the planet knows when the next ZBrush will be complete (including, it is my belief, Pixolator) bleating on about customer care and this and that consumerist preconception is nonsensical.
ZBrush is a work of genius, Pixolators mastery of his tools are breathtaking and with every success he expands the horizons a little further. I think he has opened new vistas (even for him) and that these must be commanded before rational waystations to the future can be set. The longer ZBrush is in his hands, the better it is for you and me. For this math-magical product, years and months and profits and the concerns of ordered fools are, just insignificant.
I feel sad that detractors exist, I feel they expose their minds to be inadequately composed for rational thought, truth is, they scare me.
PS. I shouldn’t even mention it, but we don’t really pay for ZBrush, there is no balance whatsoever between the amount we are required to give in return for what we receive. To labour the contrary point is to my mind at least mad, dehumanising and distasteful. The fact is we can’t afford to pay Pixolator what he’s worth, all he’ll ever get is the meagre some he requires to keep those close to him secure. I think he is owed more tokens of goodwill than he asks for.
Do not feel decomposed, there are those that say I’m crazy.
