hello-

I am looking to learn Zbrush and have always used a Mac but mine is unfortunately old and wont run Zbrush and I was wondering what the rest of the Mac users are using? thanks for any help that can be given!

I use a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Ghz Dual-Core with 2 gigs of memory and Boot Camp. I see the new 8 Core Mac Pros were announced today - Woo Hoo!!

I dont really have the extra scratch for that particular model, do you think any of the upper end imacs would do the trick, or do you think that the Mac pros are the way to go. just bite the bullet and do it?

After reading about people using a Mac Mini and ZBrush, I’m sure a new iMac would be great!

I’ve been fortunate enough to use ZBrush on a Macbook Pro, via Boot Camp and windows XP. I have 1.5GB Ram, and while it isn’t the greatest, I’ve been able to sculpt with a couple of million polys. I just got a Mac Pro today, so I’m excited to see what I can do. Of course, with the Mac version of 3.1 coming out in a while, I can’t wait to use it on Mac OS X, but until then Vista x64.

Currently I’m using a 2 and half year old 2ghz single core iMac with 2gb of RAM. Still on ZBrush 2 but it works just fine. I’ll probably upgrade to a newer iMac soon.

I’ve used ZBrush on my Intel Quad Xeon MacPro via Parallels & Bootcamp, ZB is great but unfortunately Windows still isn’t & ruins the experience, I have since uninstalled Windows/Paralles & ZB & am waiting for a native Mac version (May 2008 fingers crossed)…

I have 8Gb of memory but alas Windows only allows 2Gb in Bootcamp (which Vista wants most of). Plus Parallels has a limit of 1.5gb, needless to say the full Mac version will be a very different experience…

My advice would be to wait it out, why should you have to buy Windows to run ZB… :rolleyes:

Serious now, I use an iMac 24" 3Gb Ram with Windows XP and Parallels just for ZB
It works a bit slow, I hope the Mac version will work better.

hi all,

i have to be honest and like to confess.

I am using an ibook g3 900mhz 640mb with 10.4 and z2. works great for me.

I am one of those outsiders (old??? mac users), as most of you will use an intel mac (new?? mac users) or even win pc- probably.

no use of upgrading to intel mac for me as long z 3.1 is not out.
