Answered: Volume license

How exactly does the volume license work?
Can I have ZBrush installed on 30 computers, and (with 15 licenses) have ZBrush working on any 15 of them, at one time? Is registering/unregistering licenses done automatically (on a first-come, first-served basis, using some sort of network service to keep track of activated licenses)? Or is it an online process, where someone is responsible with manually assigning licenses to individual computers?
Also, what is the minimum number of copies that have to be purchased in order to activate a volume license? The store lets me start with 5, but the tooltip for volume license mentions 20.

The big difference between a volume and a single user license is the number of serial numbers. Under single user licenses, all seats have their own serial number. Under a volume license, all seats share the same serial number which has a number of available activations equal to the number of seats purchased.

A volume license requires five seats or more. ZBrush can be installed on as many computers as you want, but only the number for which you have purchased seats can be concurrently activated. So yes, if you bought 15 seats you could put it on 30 computers and have any 15 of them activated at one time.

Activation takes place through the Pixologic servers. To activate on a computer you would use Web Activation. To deactivate you would use Zplugin>Deactivation>Web Deactivation from within ZBrush. For this reason the computer must have internet access at the time that activation and deactivation take place.

When you do web activation you are asked for a computer description. This can be anything you want to let you identify that specific machine. That way, if something should happen where you couldn’t deactivate (such as hardware failure) it will be possible to select that activation from a list to have it cleared off the serial number by our support team.

If you have further questions, please submit a ticket at http://support.pixologic.com. The team will be happy to answer them.

Thanks, aurick, for the quick and complete answer!
